LIST: Roads to be Closed During PM Netanyahu's Visit

On Tuesday morning Nairobi residents woke up to major traffic snarl-ups on several roads in the city, with many complaining about the lack of prior information.

The inconvenience was caused by the visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who is in the country for a three-day state visit.

According to reports, at least seven roads are expected to be closed during Netanyahu's stay in Kenya.

Nairobi County Commander Japheth Koome warned that Chiromo Road between Westlands and Museum Hill will remain closed the whole of Tuesday.

Vehicles from the Central Business District (CBD) to Westlands, however, will not be affected. Uhuru Highway, Haile Selassie Avenue, Parliament Road, Wabera Street will be closed later on in the day.

"At some stage, Kenyatta Avenue and State House Avenue will also be closed," Mr Koome said.

Koome indicated that Lang'ata road will also be affected temporarily.

Motorists using other roads including; Forest Road, Kipande Road, and Waiyaki Way by 7am had already started feeling the effect.
