A dramatic scene was on Thursday witnessed inside Equity bank in Kisumu after suspected robbers attempted to raid the bank.
One suspect who was in possession of a toy pistol, was shot dead while his five counterparts were arrested.
Shortly before police arrived at the scene, the suspects had reportedly held the bank manager at 'gun' point, ordering him to open the safe and stash all the money in the sack.
Confirming the incident, Assistant Inspector General Joseph Keitany, stated that the felled suspect made his way into the banking hall pretending to be customer before he ordered the customers to lie down as he wielded the fake weapon.
Mr Keitany noted that the slain man was gunned down after he failed to surrender.
The body of the robber was taken to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
This comes after another a robbery incident that occurred in Nyeri's Equity bank where impostor auditors made away with Sh30 Million.
The imposters are said to have arrived at the Othaya Equity branch at around 6.50am and identified themselves as auditors from the Equity Bank headquarters in Nairobi.
