After quitting the Kisumu gubernatorial race, Kisumu Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga has now stated she would like to be a running mate to whoever wins the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) primaries.
Ms Odinga was addressing a press conference in Kisumu town where she stated she would continue offering her duties as Deputy governor.
Ruth, who is Opposition leader Raila Odinga’s younger sister, quit the race for Kisumu’s top seat and had not paid the Sh250,000 nomination fee required from female aspirants.
Ms Odinga confirmed that she was no longer interested in the seat despite earlier on maintaining her resolve to unseat incumbent Jack Ranguma.
Governor Ranguma, Kisumu Senator Anyang Nyong’o, businessman Hezron Mc’Obewa and Gordon Wayumba will compete for the ODM ticket during the primaries that will be held on April 12th.
Ms Odinga criticised pollster Infotrack for giving her a low popularity rating for governor, regardless of the fact that she was not running.
She claimed the poll was altered to influence the electorate.
