Sakaja 'Passionately' Defends CORD, Blasts Nkaissery

TNA chairperson Johnson Sakaja on Tuesday defended the CORD coalition from accusations that it was planning a revolution in the country.

According to Sakaja, allegations by Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery that CORD was intending to overthrow the government by staging an 'Arab Spring' were total lies.

“I don’t think CORD are planning to overthrow the government. That's not true because it is impossible. There is no way the opposition can plan such a thing,” said Sakaja in an interview with Radio Jambo.

The TNA chairman stated that the government had everything in its power hence the Opposition did not stand a chance to stage a revolution.

“The government of the day has the instruments of power, weapons and more resources compared to the opposition, so I don’t think they are planning the so-called Arab Spring,” said Sakaja.

Sakaja rubbished CS Nkaisserry's remarks concerning the Opposition saying they were often incorrect.

“Nkaissery is my friend, but sometimes I feel that he exaggerates things when it comes to the opposition,” added Sakaja.

He blasted the Interior Minister for purporting that CORD did not have the best interest for the country .

“To say that the opposition leaders stand for destruction and division in the country is wrong, because those are our friends. Those are good people too but just doing their job of opposition,” said Sakaja.

On Thursday last week while in Brussels, Belgium, Nkaissery said that the Opposition was using the anti-IEBC demonstrations to overthrow the government.
