School Principal and Deputy Interdicted over Teacher's Misconduct

The Teachers Service Commission has taken action against the Principal and Deputy Principal of Njoro Girls High School following an incident where one of the teachers is accused of sexually molesting students.

Principal Milka Wanderi and her deputy Esther Mbugua have been interdicted over what is said to be "negligence of duty and failing to take action where six of their students were allegedly sexually molested", the Nation reports.

According to TSC Director of education in Nakuru County Agnetta Kitheka, a form two student had reported to the deputy head teacher after she was sexually abused by the teacher identified as Mr Paul Gicheru.

The deputy principal is said to have guided, counselled and at the same time scolded the student for having a relationship with the teacher.

It is on this account that the TSC Director highlights that Ms Wambui was negligent for failing to report the matter to the head teacher for further action.

Some of the students have also claimed that the head teacher was aware of the sexual harassment issue.

Mr Gicheru has since been arraigned in court and charged with sexually molesting six girls.
