School Principal Strangled to Death

A school principal in Vihiga County was Tuesday found dead with reports indicating that he could have been strangled.

Mr Tom Majanga of Bumuyange Secondary School was found lying lifeless along Gisambai-Mudete road at about 5am, by a bodaboda rider who alerted the police.

Confirming the incident Area chief Joseph Mavisi, asserted that the deceased had left his house in Gisambai past midnight, saying he was attending to an emergency at his Chamakanga rural home.

According to Vihiga Acting Police Commandant Benson Muasa, the school head could have been attacked while fixing his vehicle which had broken down.

"The principal's car may have developed a wheel jam. He may have been attacked while trying to fix it," the Star quotes Mr Muasa.

The police boss added that the victim's vehicle had been ransacked, a gesture that some items could have been stolen.

Majanja’s body was taken to St Monica Mortuary where initial reports showed he had suffered head injuries.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chairperson of Kenya Secondary School Heads Association, Kahi Indimuli, urged the Government to provide security for the Heads, citing that some may fall victim following critical decisions they make while executing their mandate.

Mr Majanga had reportedly been transferred from Gimengo Secondary School.
