Senior Police Officer, KPLC Worker Arrested in Nakuru

A Senior Police Officer and a  Kenya Power Company employee were arrested on Tuesday evening over claims of bribery.

Chief Inspector of Police Peter Wambua and KPLC Technician James Michuki were apprehended by anti-graft detectives at Kambi ya Moto area, Nakuru County.

The detectives recovered a sum of Sh150,000 that the two had collected from the public.

The officers from the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) were acting on a lead that the two were extorting money from people they claimed had illegal electricity connection.

EACC Deputy Director South Rift region Gilbert Lukhoba explained that his officers caught the suspects in the act taking money from Kenya Power customers.

The officers are being held at Nakuru Central Police station awaiting completion of investigations and consequently be charged in court for engaging in extortion.

EACC has called on the public to continue reporting such incidents to end corruption.
