A man set himself ablaze in Gilgil after he quarreled with his spouse over unidentified reasons.
The man, said to be a casual labourer, allegedly fought with his wife who left him about two weeks ago. He had threatened to burn himself and other villagers' property, but his sentiments were taken as a mere threat by his neighbours.
On failing to control the fire, the victim who did not survive the ordeal, is reported to have run out of his house to seek help from his neighbours.
However, the fire razed down other wooden houses in the neighbourhood leading to loss of property of unknown value.
Confirming the incident, Gilgil OCPD Serah Koki said that investigations had been launched into the incident.
In the recent past, several fatal cases of domestic violence have been reported with most resulting in untimely deaths. In September, a lady was arrested in Buruburu for killing her boyfriend after stabbing him 22 times.
Last week, a lady was also accused of killing her two children after she fed them with poisoned cakes over a disagreement with her husband.
