Staff Held Hostage as Robbers Break into Tuskys Supermarket

Staff at Tuskys Supermarket in Bandari, Mombasa, were held hostage by armed robbers who broke in and stole loads of cash and goods on Thursday night.

According to Mombasa Urban police boss Martin Asin, the cashier was ordered to empty the safe and surrender the money to the buglars.

The robbers are said to have escaped with a customer's car, Subaru, before dumping it in the Central Business District.

CCTV footage from the dramatic incident was collected by the police from the supermarket to aid in the investigations.

Robbery cases have been on a rise in the recent weeks. On Thursday, a botched robbery occured at Equity Bank in Kisumu where one robber was killed and five others arrested.

Last week,  a robbery incident also occurred in Nyeri's Equity bank where impostor auditors made away with Sh30 Million.
