State House Reveals How Bodyguards Made Uhuru Cancel Important Trip

State House spokesperson Manoah Esipisu on Tuesday explained why President Uhuru Kenyatta cancelled his trip to Busia on Saturday morning.

Kenyatta was scheduled to attend the burial of Funyula Member of Parliament (MP) Paul Otuoma's son - Malcolm Mwanga - but failed to show up without any explanation.

Esipisu divulged that the President was advised by his security team to cancel the trip due to bad weather.

“Due to poor weather conditions, the President could not make the trip. The President has spoken to the MP to express his condolences, and to reassure him that his thoughts and prayers are with Otuoma and his family at this most difficult time,” Esipisu stated.

The President was expected to grace the burial together with ODM leader Raila Odinga, who coincidentally missed the burial.

Otuoma's son died on November 11, at Nairobi Hospital while receiving treatment after he suffered a heart attack.

Mwanga was a first-year student at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
