Students Burn Neighbour's House in Revenge Protest

Police have arrested a student of Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC) in Nairobi's South B area, for allegedly taking part in an arson attack said to have been a revenge mission.

The student is reported to have been among others who set ablaze their neighbour's properties, including a car near the institution on Friday morning

The KIMC students carried out the attacks leaving their victim in ramshackles.

They claimed that the neighbour had called city council askaris, who demolished their shop, prompting them to retaliate.

A daughter of the victim who spoke to The Standard, narrated that she had to rush at her parents' home to save them, when she realized that the students were planning to attack them.

"We need protection from authorities and those involved must be punished and made to pay. It's wrong," she pleaded.

Nairobi Police boss Japheth Koome assured that they were still looking for more culprits who participated in the arson incident and that they would soon face the law.
