Students Sent Home After Protesting Over Food and Water

Students from Njoro Boys High School in Nakuru were on Monday sent home after riots in the school.

The students allegedly refused to stay in class, protesting what they said was the school administration’s failure to address their grievances.

The Nation reports that the students were complaining of lack of water in the school, after the borehole in the school stopped working.

They also wanted githeri to be removed from the school’s menu.

Reports indicate, however, that the riots could have been a ploy by the students to get time off school.

Form two and form three students have been accused of starting the riots in order to get a break from school while the form four students sat for their mock exams.

Some students were left stranded in town after they were told to leave the school, complaining that they had no fare to get them home.

Form one and two are expected back in school on Monday next week while the rest of the students report on Tuesday the same week.
