An eight -year-old girl from Butere, Kakamega County is believed to have been raped and killed by her own uncle, much to the shock and grief of family members.
The little girl had gone missing after her mother had sent he to a neighbor’s house to pick a phone which had been charging.
When the deceased took too long to come back, her mother went looking for her, but to no avail.
The search spilled over to the next day as family and friends joined in.
her body was discovered buried in a shallow grave, with evidence suggesting rape and brutal murder.
Residents hold the girl's 21-year-old uncle responsible for the tragedy.
The suspect was arrested and taken into police custody, as police investigate the matter.
Meanwhile, the body lies at St Mary’s mortuary, awaiting a postmortem.
