Taxi and Tuk Tuk Drivers Trained in Handling Tourists in Anticipation Of Rise in Tourism

The campaign to revive tourism in the country is hitting high gear following an expected rise in tourism.

At the Coast region, preparations are underway in anticipation of the peak in the sector.

To this effect, the Tourism Fund ensured that Tuk Tuk and taxi drivers in the region are fully prepared by training them on basic skills when handling the tourists.

Over 500 drivers from from Mombasa, Kilifi and Kwale counties were trained.

The exercise is aimed at preparing individuals in the transport sector with knowledge in basic tourism and hospitality.

According to NTV, the three-day event was organized by the Tourism Fund in collaboration with experts from the Technical University of Mombasa, Kenyatta University-Mombasa Campus and Pwani University, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) as well as the Tourism Police Unit (TPU).

This comes as the country remains hopeful that the sector will bounce back after a drastic decline following security concerns that led to several countries issuing travel advisories.

The countries were worried over the safety of their citizens after the country saw several terror attacks.
