Tom Mboya Primary School Writes to the EACC

Tom Mboya Primary School has written to the Ethics and Ati-Corruption Commission to confirm that Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho was one of their pupils.

In a letter dated April 5, the Headteacher, Mr Baba Suleiman, confirmed that a pupil by the name Hassan Ali, whom he believed to be the Mombasa Governor, sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam at the school in 1988 under Index Number 16010/19.

Mr Suleiman also noted the KCPE certificate number as 107490 and outlined the grades Governor Joho attained in the various subjects he had pursued.

EACC Deputy CEO Micheal Mubea had written to the school last week seeking to find out if the Governor had enrolled there, the details of the enrollment, if he had sat for the KCPE exam there and the specific grades he attained.

Mubea's letter was followed up with a visit from EACC officials on Wednesday, prompting the head teacher to write.

"With reference to your letter...I do hereby confirm that Hassan Ali was a pupil in this school," read the letter stamped and signed by the head teacher.

The letter further described some extra-curricula activities the Governor took part in.

"Apart from being active in football, Ali Hassan was also the school time-keeper," the letter added.
