Kenyans on social media were on Monday engaging in various discussions among them the presumed dominance of the Odinga family in the Opposition politics.

1. #OdingaDynasty

CORD leader Raila Odinga's family became the subject of online discussion on Monday morning after his daughter Rosemary Odinga, announced on Sunday that she would vie for the Kibra Parliamentary seat.

Her declaration sparked a heated debate on twitter with a section of the public accusing the former Prime Minister of imposing family members on people.

Members of the public went ahead and cited examples of Ruth Odinga Kisumu deputy Governor, nominated MP Oburu Odinga and Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo who have all been propelled to their positions through the Orange Party.

2. #Amina4AUChair

Cabinet Secretary for foreign affairs Amina Mohamed became the topic of online conversation after Education CS Fred Matiang’i gave an update on her campaign as she seeks to become next AU chairperson.

In his update, Dr Matiang'i disclosed that Kenya had reached 51 out of 53 AU member States in lobbying for CS Amina.

The elections for the AU post will be held next week on Monday. 

3. Mandera

Mandera County became a trending topic after suspected Al Shabaab militants bombed a guesthouse and a branch of Equity bank in the area. 

A Kenya Police reservist was also killed during the attack. 

4. #RutoinKakamega

Deputy President William Ruto began trending after addressing Jubilee aspirants at Mumias Sports Complex, Kakamega County.

“We want to unite Kenyans, that is the biggest achievement we can have for our nation.” the DP stated while addressing the aspirants.
