Seven Senators have issued a stern warning to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) concerning the delayed teachers' salaries.
The legislators gave the TSC a 14-day ultimatum to pay teachers or face legal action for disobeying the court's order.
The lawmakers alleged that the teachers' employer, though an independent body, was receiving instructions from elsewhere hence defying court's instructions to pay the tutors.
They threatened to file a contempt of court suit against the Commission's Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia and Chairperson Lydia Nzomo, citing that they had failed to freely handle the pay dispute.
In September, the Employment and Labour Court directed TSC to pay teachers their September salaries after suspending the 5-week strike that had crippled learning in public schools.

The court further warned the commission against victimizing the striking tutors.
TSC, however, moved to court to challenge the order issued by Justice Nelson Abuodha, citing that there was an error on the judge's part because the commission had already appealed against the award.
