Uhuru Accuses Raila of Destroying Kenya's Economy

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday took a swipe at Opposition leader Raila Odinga accusing him of destroying the country's economy in 2007 due to preaching politics of hate and propaganda in the country.

Speaking in Nyeri county during the launch of Narumoru-Ngaring’iru-Ngobit Road, Kenyatta stated that the economy had grown to 7% until Odinga started preaching politics of hatred which ultimately ruined the prosperity that was being witnessed.

The Head of State claimed that Odinga was hoodwinking Kenyans on corruption in an effort to derail the government’s development agenda.

“The problem in this country is bad politics. We are focusing on negative and divisive politics. Recently, when we allocated money to put up a referral hospital in Nanyuki to ease pressure for Nyeri Hospital, the same person said money has been stolen,” Kenyatta affirmed.

The President announced that the government had set aside Sh80 Million for modernization of Naromoru Hospital to help the locals access medical facilities.

“The millions we are allocating to this hospital are for putting up a modern theatre, x-ray machines and other modern equipment,” said the President.

The President also commissioned the construction of a modern market at Chaka trading centre, which is estimated to cost the government about Sh800 Million.

“This market in addition to serving farmers will also have banking services and all that is required by the people when they go shopping,” said the President.

The Head of State urged politicians around the country to concentrate on serving the country instead of preaching politics of hatred.
