Uhuru's Niece in Trouble Over Fraudulent Tenders

Members of Parliament (MPs) sitting in the Parliamentary Joint Committee on National Cohesion and Equal Opportunity have summoned a niece to President Uhuru Kenyatta over alleged mishandling of multi-billion tenders when the KICC hosted the World Trade Organization (WTO) in December 2015.

Nana Gecaga has been summoned in her capacity as the acting Managing Director at KICC even though she had not been appointed at the time the conference was being held.

The matter was raised by suppliers after they wrote to the President seeking his intervention in over Sh 1.5 Billion defaulted payments.

The suppliers complained that failure by KICC to pay them for their services has left them at a financial disadvantage.

The MPs will be asking Ms Gecaga to explain why they are yet to pay the suppliers almost a year after the high-level meeting.
