A new state-of-the-art police station with unique facilities is set to be constructed in Nairobi's, Kilimani area.
The four-storey Station estimated to cost about Sh500 Million will reportedly accommodate various facilities including a recreational park, a worship centre, referral medical unit and a resource centre.
The new Station that will be funded by the Chinese Government will also have a library, a family protection unit, an accommodation section for police officers, a training and conference centre and a large enquiry room among others.
Contrary to the current situation in most stations with dilapidated facilities, the new facility will be the first of its kind in the history of the Police service as indicated by Inspector General Joseph Boinnet.
Mr Boinnet also stated that the multimillion station will kick-start the process of improving the status of service delivery and enhance efforts in the fight against crime.
“It will be a replica of all institutions to be built in the country,” stated the IG.
The project was officially launched following a meeting between Boinnet and Chinese Ambassador Liu Xianfa.
The initiative was flagged just weeks after several Members of Parliament who had been detained at Pangani and Muthaiga police stations complained over poor conditions subjected to detainees in police cells.
