The White House has dismissed calls from various Kenyan lobby groups, that US President Barack Obama refrains from speaking about homosexuality while in Kenya.
While addressing journalists, White house press secretary Josh Earnest said that Obama was not expected to back away from addressing any particular topic while in Kenya.
Earnest further noted that President Obama, does not hesitate to raise concerns about human rights whenever he travels around the world.
The Star quotes the white house press secretary saying, “I’m confident that the President will not hesitate to make clear that the protection of basic universal human rights in Kenya is also a priority and consistent with the values that we hold dear here in the United States of America."
The response comes amid rising concerns, that the US president could use his tour in Kenya to advocate for the upholding of the homosexual's rights.
Obama is set to attend the 6th annual Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Nairobi from July 24 to July 25.
