VIDEO: 15 Officers Who Helped Colleagues Evade Arrest to Be Charged

15 officers who stopped the arrest of their colleagues by Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) officers on Thursday will be arrested and charged.

EACC CEO Halakhe Waqo told the media on Friday that the officers would have to answer to charges of abetting the three traffic officers who had been caught taking bribes from motorists.

The three were nabbed at Athi River along Mombasa Road, only for their colleagues to arrive in vehicles and forcefully remove them from the custody of EACC officers.

According to Wako, among the 15 officers to be investigated include senior officers Machakos OCPD Mutoro Kizito, OCS Gerald Gitau and DCIO Joseph Mumira.

'It was unfortunate that even senior police officers participated in the criminal act of abetting crime by forcing colleagues out of the hands of EACC officers,' Wako said.
