VIDEO: How Kajiado Bhang Cartel Uses Children

A man alleged to be the mastermind behind the recruitment and use of children in trafficking drugs around Majengo area in Kajiado, has been unmasked.

The young man identified as Samuel Munyaka Mutii, aka Rasta, is said to head a bhang cartel in Kajiado.

Concerns had earlier been raised in the area, after an increasing number of school going children trapped in bhang trade, was reported.

A local media house did an investigative piece on Rasta in July 2014  which led to his prompt arrest.

Rasta was charged with narcotics trafficking and released on a Sh200,000 bond.

However, the man was back in the streets 10 months later.

He intensified his trade, turning his former children foot soldiers into his biggest consumers.

A resident interviewed by Citizen TV says the number of school going children who consume the drugs had increased tremendously.

This is evident during the school holidays when children are back home.

The bhang business flourishes as more children abandon playgrounds and cluster in bushes buying and smoking weed.

A concerned parent claims the police in the area are bribed by the peddlers into silence. They pass every evening for their cut, allowing the business to flourish.

A swoop was carried out on 12th August after the media house doing the investigation alerted the police.

The place was turned down, drug stash confiscated and a man arrested.

Lemon Mboya, AP Commander Kajiado says the place is now almost free of illegal booze and drugs.

However, the residents registered pessimism over the assurance, claiming the arrested will soon be out in the streets and the business will go back as usual – a situation observed after Rasta was arrested in the previous year.

The residents have called for the arrest of Rasta, the main man. They say its not over until the man, the head of the cartel, is behind bars.
