Former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo was captured on camera making damning allegations against Deputy President William Ruto during the burial of the slain businessman Jacob Juma.
In the clip, Jirongo is heard narrating how Ruto allegedly murdered a young man during President Daniel Moi era, when they were ambushed at a public rally.
He mentioned that while attending the said meeting, they had been warned by police that they would be attacked with spears and were further cautioned to make sure their cars were nearby if they wanted to return home alive.
Just like they had been forewarned, the former lawmaker recollected how a young man hit his car with a spear, adding that they were in the same car with Ruto at the time of the incident.
“Wakati kijana mmoja ambaye alikuwa kwa wale ambao walikuwa wametumwa alikuja akachapa mshale kwa gari yangu. George Captain alitoka mbio akapata huyo kijana akamuangukia kwa miguu akamshika. Sisi tulikuwa tunafikiri tumeshika mtu lakini huyo kijana rafiki yangu ndio nikaelewa ana damu ya kuuwa alienda akageuza shingo yake akauuwa huyo kijana. Wale mliokuwa zamani mnakumbuka yule aliyeuwa huyo kijana alikuwa Deputy President William Ruto," Jirongo said.
His speech loosely translated as: "A young man came around and hit my vehicle with an arrow. George Kapten rushed out of the car, pursued the man then pounced on him. We all thought that we had apprehended the man, but that day my friend (Ruto) made me believe he was capable of killing when he strangled him before us. Those who were around during that period know that the young man was killed by Deputy President William Ruto."
He went further to state that it was hard for a murderer to abandon his 'perfected tendencies'.
Jirongo made the serious claims even after Ruto threatened to sue him over remarks he made during Juma's requiem mass.
At the mass, Jirongo mentioned that Ruto and Juma at some point were engaged in a confrontation, remarks that were interpreted as linking the DP to Juma's murder.
"If the IG is sincere, Jacob Juma slapped the Deputy President some time back, that is where the investigations should start," Jirongo said.

Ruto and Jirongo were part of the group which spearheaded the Youth for KANU in 1992, a movement that was meant to campaign for the then President Daniel Arap Moi during the first multi-party elections in the same year.
The DP has also been extensively mentioned in Juma's assassination plot, as the slain businessman had claimed on social media that Ruto was planning to wipe him out.
