Former Citizen TV anchor Julie Gichuru has given a strong indication of people who could have been behind the vicious online attack she suffered over her sport betting company, mCHEZA.
In a television interview, Ms Gichuru stated that some individuals had been paid to bring her and the company she represents down, hinting at politicians and business people.
She further indicated that it was not by chance that on the day mCHEZA was giving away the jackpot, the brutal attacks commenced.
“It is no coincidence that on the day we give away our jackpot, I personally come under attack, and mCHEZA the brand that I am a director of Acumen Limited, the brand that we represent comes under attack. I believe it was financed,” Gichuru said
"So who are the politicians and who are the business rivals, business people, people in the corporate world funding this kind of behavior?” She questioned.
The former anchor sharply condemned cyber-bullying stating that those funding it were building a society based on hatred and harassment.
“And if you are funding it today you are going to be subject to it tomorrow, so where is the sense in it. Is this the society you want our children to live in, subject to hatred and harassment?
Last month, Gichuru came under fierce attack on social media, after her betting company mCHEZA was put on the spot for allegedly paying gamers low bonuses.
Ms Gichuru, who is one of the mCHEZA owners, was also lashed for allowing gambling to bloom in the country yet she is considered a respectable public figure.
A hashtag dubbed #FallOfJulieGichuru trended on social media tainting her image.
