Video: KDF Blows Up Sh28 Million Yacht Found With Heroine

The KDF destroyed a Sh28 million luxury yacht found with narcotics in the Indian Ocean.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery led a team of government officials in witnessing the destruction of the vessel.

The yacht was impounded in April by the Kenya Navy with five suspects, four of them Kenyan, on board.

It is believed to be among yachts that sail between the Seychelles, Tanzania and Kenya in what police suspect is part of an international drugs syndicate.

The vessel was allegedly owned by a Brit.

Investigations into the drugs on board revealed that it was heroine.

This is the second vessel caught with drugs that will be destroyed in the Indian Ocean.

This will be the second ship to be destroyed off the Kenyan Coast for involvement in the illegal drugs trade.

A ship carrying heroin worth Sh1 billion was intercepted off the Kenyan Coast near Lamu by Kenya Navy officers last year.

The government directed that the ship be destroyed.

In his speech President Uhuru, who supervised the destruction reiterated his government's efforts in fighting drug abuse in the country.

Reports indicate that drug use has been on the rise in the country for the past several years most especially among the youth.

The most affected are from the coastal region.
