Waiguru Finally Speaks on Relationship With Uhuru

Former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru on Sunday spoke on the alleged 'special relationship' between her and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking in an interview on Citizen TV, Ms Waiguru stated that: “It was a normal relationship like any other Cabinet Minister”.

In regard to the purported special treatment by the Head of State, she criticized the current society for what she termed as 'stereotyping women'.

“It is very sad the way this country stereotypes women, and a woman cannot be intelligent, young and maybe slightly attractive and not have any relationship with anyone for them to move up,” Waiguru said.

According to Waiguru the alleged special treatment was a creation by her critics, who had turned the war on corruption into a personalised vendetta.

Ms Waiguru resigned in November 2015, following months of sustained pressure over corruption allegations in her Ministry, blaming her woes on a “frenzied but organised attack on her character”.

“A diabolical machinery has been applied incessantly by misinformed and mischievous parties to intimidate, harass and discredit both my professional and personal integrity, anything and everything has been fair game, including attacks on my children.” she stated when announcing her resignation.

After resigning from Government, Ms Waiguru indicated she had been taking time to rest and focus on improving her health which had highly been affected by the personalised attacks.
