Anne Waiguru Declares How Much She Owns

After facing a storm over speculations of owning a Sh100 Million house, former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru has finally moved to publicly declare her wealth.

In an interview on Citizen TV, the former CS declared that all her property including two houses, one in Runda and another in Kitsuru, were valued at around Sh160 Million only.

Waiguru further said that she had accumulated liabilities amounting to Sh80 Million thus bringing her total networth to around Sh80 Million.

"In terms of assets counting my house in Runda and this one which is on loan maybe Sh160 Million. Then liabilities, about Sh80 Million so networth value is nothing significant to write home about," she said.

According to Waiguru, most of her properties were acquired during her many years in public service, since she had previously worked at Treasury and with the World Bank.

When pressed about her lavish home in Kitsuru, she clarified that she had not paid for the house in cash as had been speculated, saying that she bought the home on mortgage.

The former powerful Minister dismissed reports that her son owned a luxurious Aston Martin car that he was once spotted driving, claiming that they didn't even have enough money to purchase such model of a vehicle.

Waiguru was speaking publicly for the first time since leaving office in November, when she finally told her side of the story regarding allegations that she was involved in the National Youth Service scandal which led to the loss of Sh791 Million.
