Was Ruto Humiliated During Inauguration of Ghana's New President Nana Addo?

Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday attended the inauguration of Ghana's new President, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo. Following the ceremony held at the Black Star Squares, numerous concerns have been raised on how DP Ruto was treated in the West African country compared to CORD leader Raila Odinga.

A photo showing Ruto almost peeping between other guests in order to have a glimpse of what was transpiring on the podium set the stage for online speculations indicating that the DP was humiliated and denied VIP treatment in Ghana.

At the same time, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who was captured seated at the second row of a podium that was highly guarded, was hailed for attracting better recognition. Mr Odinga is seen next to African statesmen including Kofi Annan and retired Ghanian President John Kufuor.

Though it is not clear whether the DP was in a way treated unfairly in Ghana, pictures he posted on his social media reflected otherwise.

Mr Ruto is seen having several one-on-one sessions with the fifth President of Ghana and was even invited to the State Banquet at the Flag Staff House.

Before departure, Ruto had a guard of honour lined up for him to inspect.

Nonetheless, Mr Raila who was accompanied by Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho was also seen to be quite close to Ghana's newly-elected President.
