Why I Slapped Senator Murkomen, MP reveals

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno on Friday engaged in a physical fight at the Wilson Airport VIP lounge, as they waited for a flight to Nandi County.

According to Ng'eno, the scuffle started when he mockingly questioned Murkomen about the bundles of money he was carrying, while insinuating they were part of the National Youth Service (NYS) Millions that had been looted.

“So I asked him, is it true? Or could it be what you are carrying to Kericho or wherever the money is going to, be the NYS money? When I asked him that question instead of confirming or denying he started coming for me,” Ng'eno stated.

Ng'eno said he only engaged in the fight to defend himself against Murkomen who was really charged.

The confrontation between the two leaders did not end at the airport, but continued at the burial of Nandi County Deputy Speaker Hesbon Meto.

At the ceremony, Murkomen claimed he was aware that Ng'eno had been mentioned in some dubious CDF deals, but he did not go round spewing hideous statements because he believed in the rule of law.

The Senator however, denied engaging in the brawl saying he was beyond that.

“I am not the type who can fight. I have gone to school and I know there are better ways to fight,” Murkomen was quoted by the Nation.

Earlier in the week, Murkomen's name appeared in an affidavit by former Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru, linking him to the Sh791 Million NYS scam.
