This is Why President Uhuru Could Be Kicked Out of Office

The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) has warned to drive a motion in parliament to impeach President Uhuru Kenyatta for flouting court's order to award teachers the 50-60 percent salary increase.

CORD Chairperson John Mbadi was instructed by the coalition to prepare and lead the motion for the impeachment in parliament.

Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula in a press briefing on Thursday, said that they would marshal their members in Nairobi to join teachers in street demonstrations on Wednesday, to push the Government to comply with the Employment and Labour Relations ruling made earlier this year.

The Government has been criticized by various factions for failing to obey the court orders issued. The Law Society of Kenya also came out to challenge the Government to effect the pay hike arguring that failure to do so would be in contempt of the court.

Other groups like the Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) also promised to join teachers in protest but were restricted to do so when the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) moved to court to bar the strike.

Learning in public schools has been paralyzed by the ongoing teachers strike which is now on its third week.

President Kenyatta however, in a statement asserted that there was no funds to pay the striking teachers citing that a move to implement the improved teacher's salaries would have dire consequences on the country's economy.
