Wife of Deceased KDF Soldier, Abdala Aziz, Requests President Uhuru to Provide Financial Assistance to their Family

The family of one of the KDF soldiers who were killed in the Friday attack orchestrated by the Al-Shabaab has sent a passionate message to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The wife to the late Abdala Aziz, Ms Khadija Aziz, has asked President Kenyatta to intervene to ensure that her family is looked after, given that her husband was the sole breadwinner for the family.

The deceased soldier left a family of two, his wife and a daughter who is currently schooling at Moi Girls Secondary School in Maralal.

Khadija stated that unless the government intervenes, her daughter will be forced to drop out of school since she was relying on Abdala’s salary.

The moving story from the Aziz family has also raised questions on the communication protocol followed whenever government agents are killed in the line of duty.

Ms Aziz was quoted by eDaily revealing that she was yet to receive official communication on the death of her husband.

“His colleague phoned and informed us of the bad news yesterday (Saturday). We were shocked. His death has really affected us. Some of our relatives have gone to Nairobi and have successfully identified my husband’s body,” Ms Aziz narrated.

Late last year, a GSU officer attached to the Presidential Security Guard was killed during a fire tragedy at Naivasha.

The family would later complain that they came to know of his death after his name was published on social media, eventually reaching a family member through a local Whatsapp group.
