Willy Mutunga Takes Boniface Mwangi to Central Police Station [PHOTOS]

Former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga was on Friday at Central Police Station, Nairobi, where he had taken human rights activist Boniface Mwangi.

Dr Mutunga accompanied the activist to record a statement following death threats directed at him (Mwangi), his wife and children.

Divulging the information on social media, the vocal activist stated: "Today I recorded a statement at the Central Police Station, Nairobi. I gave the police information about the death threats that me and my family have been receiving. Thank you to all who turned up to support. I will now let justice be my shield and defender."

CJ Mutunga has been quite close with Mr Mwangi owing to the fact that they are all involved in human rights activism.

Earlier, Mwangi, who is also a photojournalist disclosed the numerous threats he had received with the recent one being after Deputy President William Ruto sued him for defamation.

Mwangi stated that his friend encouraged him to flee the country adding that on his recent trip to the US, he received a warning message describing the plot to take him out.

"We were meant to travel back last week, but then I received a frightening warning message: “DO NOT COME HOME: THEY WILL KILL YOU.” To prove the message’s authenticity, my source shared specific details of how they intend to hurt me and my family. It has broken my heart to see my wife cry, almost every day. In her tears, she keeps saying, “You fight for Kenyans every day, but who will fight for me and for our children?” the post read in part.
