Wilson Sossion Banned From Defaming Bridge Academy

Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Wilson Sossion was on Wednesday ordered by the High Court to stop making defamatory remarks against one of the international schools, Bridge Academy.

Bridge, a low-cost private international academy with schools in Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, India and Liberia, filed a suit through its Lawyer Samora Owino accusing Mr Sossion of making malicious remarks against the institution on social media.

“Pending hearing and determination of this case, this court issues an injunction prohibiting KNUT through its officials or agents, together with Mr Sossion from making or causing it to be published any statements, be it defamatory or concerning Bridge Academies,” stated Judge Richard Mowongo.

He had allegedly written that the institution was established on a "massive marketing opportunity thus targeting the richest of the poor at great cost of those families".

Bridge also claimed that the Union boss had called for demonstrations to push for the closure of all their schools claiming the quality of education offered by the institution was questionable.

The Academy noted that it attempted to reason with Sossion to stop him from making more remarks but he declined to do so.

Bridge then moved to court to have Sossion barred from making any further statements about the school explaining that its reputation was greatly injured.
