Wiper Party to Hold National Executive Committee Meeting to Interrogate Senator Muthama

The fate of Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama is set to be decided today after the party announced that they would be holding a meeting to discuss his much-publicised fallout with Wiper Party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka.

According to sources, the meeting by Wiper’s National Executive Committee is set to interrogate Senator Muthama on whether he will defend his senatorial seat and to deliberate on any disciplinary action against him.

Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr revealed that sharp differences had emerged in the party after Senator Muthama declared that he would severe ties with Mr Musyoka.

"Different views have emerged after the party primaries. Senator Muthama was not happy with the outcomes in Makueni, Machakos, and Kitui.

"Our chairman, Musila was not happy in Kitui. He has decided to vie as an independent candidate," said Muthama.

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, however, distanced himself from the accusations and called for unity in the party highlighting that the ouster of Jubilee was the main goal.

“It is not going to be easy between now and August. We must start the song to send Jubilee home. I don't know how to offend anyone. You should not have this habit of throwing insults at each other," stated Kalonzo

Enoch Wambua -Wiper nominee for the Kitui senatorial race - dismissed Muthama's move as inconsequential.

"The Kamba community is not in Wiper because of Muthama's membership.

It is ridiculous that he left because his choice of candidate for Machakos governor lost miserably," added Mr Wambua.

He slammed Muthama for disrespecting other leaders after his choices fell in the primaries and urged him to respect the will of the people.

Senator Muthama had last week cited massive irregularities and injustice in the party accusing the party’s leadership of favouring candidates for seats in the primaries.

"I regret the way Wiper is being micro-managed to the disadvantage of some party members. My decision was influenced by the way Wiper affairs are being conducted," he told a press conference on Monday.

He revealed that he was ready to sacrifice his bid and continue serving the people outside of an elective position.
