Woman Breaks Sick Son’s Arms

A woman narrowly escaped lynching by fellow women on Tuesday after she severely injured her 8-year-old son in Kakamega.

Stella Wamboga, the mother of three, beat Zablon Wawire with a blunt object, leaving him with broken arms and also infliciting injuries on his head, back and legs.

According to the Standard Two pupil at Ikonyero Primary School, his mother battered him even after he explained to her that he was not feeling well.

Wycliffe Mutile, a doctor at Ikonyero Health Care where Zablon was rushed for treatment, said that the boy was unconscious upon arrival at the clinic owing to the deep cut on his head.

A group of agitated women camping outside the clinic, where Ms Wamboga remained locked, narrated that the woman used to beat her children every day, adding that it was time they taught her a lesson she would never forget.

“This woman beats her children every day. She beats them even in the night regardless of what time it is. Today, she must receive a thorough beating from us to teach her a lesson,” one woman told journalists.

In her defence, Wamboga said that she decided to discipline her son after he refused to go to school, accusing the women who wanted to beat her of breaking her son’s arms.

“I told him to go to school in the morning but he refused. It is these women who broke my son’s arms,” she said.

It took the intervention of the Police who whisked the woman away to assist them in investigation into the matter.
