2 KCPE Candidates Drown

Two boys who were set to sit for this year's Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations drowned on Monday, after a fishing expedition went wrong.

According to a witness account, the group of four had gone fishing at a dam in Nyandarua County, where one slipped and fell in the dam before one of his colleagues dived in to rescue him and drowned as well.

They both drowned due to the rising water levels caused by the rains. The other two sought help from the public but unfortunately it was too late since the young boys had perished in the waters.

The bodies of the two teenagers, students at Amani Primary School, were later recovered and taken to the Naivasha Sub-county Hospital Mortuary.

The area OCPD confirmed the incident and sent his condolences to the families, The Star reports.

In August this year, seven students drowned while swimming at Diani beach, Kwale county, in what was supposed to be an unforgettable trip. The seven students from St.Martin Deppores Boarding School were swept by mighty waves while on a trip at the coast.
