A Luo Doesn't Beg - Larry Madowo Answers Kenyans

NTV news anchor Larry Madowo has responded to growing pressure from a section of his social media followers asking him to apologise to blogger Cyprian Nyakundi for defaming him.

Responding during a question-answer session on Twitter under hashtag #AskLarry, Madowo was tasked to explain whether he would seek forgiveness from the blogger who has sued him for posting defamatory remarks.

The journalist simply said: “I haven't seen any pressure. And the matter is in court. Judges don't rule based on hashtags. Jaluo Oksechi ( a Luo doesn't beg).”

His fans further questioned whether he was afraid of bloggers, but Madowo retorted that he was not a slave of fear and would never beg for forgiveness from any of them.

The Trend show host went ahead to defend his authored articles saying that his work 'speaks for itself', which is why he has a huge readership, number of listeners and viewers to his radio and television shows respectively.

The news anchor has been embroiled in a tussle with Nyakundi after he wrote a publication claiming that the blogger was being paid by corporates to tarnish names of competitors.

He was heavily criticized for the comments with Nyakundi assuring him that he would file a defamation case in court.

However, the popular anchor remained unbowed saying that he was ready to take on the blogger in court. On Wednesday, he affirmed his stand by hiring lawyer Donald Kipkorir to represent him in the court battle.
