Police on Monday evening shot dead three suspected gangsters in Nairobi's Utawala area after residents raised alarm over a robbery.
According to the police, the three had robbed a businessman of Sh550,000 as he headed to the bank along Kangundo Road, when witnesses called them in.
They swiftly pursued the suspects, gunned them down and recovered the stolen cash and a pistol.
Also on Monday, a human rights activist was shot dead when dropping off one of his employees at Zimmerman estate. Police said that John Waweru was shot on the chest twice and that nothing was stolen from him.
In the wave of crime within the city, officers from the Flying Squad Unit in February killed five suspected robbers on Thika Superhighway after trailing them from Westlands area.
Two ceska pistols and 12 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the gangsters.
