Jeff Koinange is not KTN's Employee, Standard Group Speaks

The vile altercation that unfolded on veteran journalist Jeff Koinange's television show - JKL - has forced the Standard Group Limited to take administrative action.

In an interview on Monday, Standard Digital Editor David Ohito hinted on the direction the media house would be taking following what has now been termed as unethical and unprofessional manner in which Mr Koinange handled his guests who turned abusive on Live Television.

On the NTV's Press Pass show, Mr Ohito explained that after internal concerns, KTN saw it fit to pull down the Wednesday show, which hosted lawyer Miguna Miguna and businesswoman Esther Passaris, from all its online platforms.

“As a media house the Standard Group had concerns, very genuine ones internally and we have taken what we call internal mechanisms and which is why we brought down the content in the online version,” Ohito said.

He added that the company had issued an apology to the concerned parties noting "that is the best in the professional practice".

Mr Ohito divulged that he would not attack Mr Koinange in terms of ethics but highlighted that he was not an employee of the Standard Group Limited.

"In terms of the ethics, I would not want to attack Jeff Koinange. But I would want to remind the viewers here and anybody else who is interested that there are ways in which TV stations work. One includes outsourcing credible people to produce content and then you simply air.

"That is how Jeff Koinange's show came to KTN. I want to clarify again that Jeff Koinange is not in the ranked file of the staff of the Standard Group. But the management has taken a decision which it will be following administratively," Ohito noted.
