Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko to Choose Jimnah Mbaru or John Gakuo as Running-mate in Nairobi Governorship Race

Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Mike Sonko has on Saturday requested his supporters to help him choose his running mate in the race.

In a Facebook statement, Senator Sonko revealed that he had settled on either billionaire businessman Jimna Mbaru-CEO of Dyer & Blair Investment or former County Executive Officer of Water, John Gakuo as his deputies.

Sonko stated that despite his academic credentials, he had chosen as a team player to delegate, assign and appoint professionals to run the affairs of the county if elected in the August 8 General Election.

“My critics say I am not a PhD. holder but that will not stop me from serving you great people,” said Sonko.

He noted that his deliberations on the two businessmen were necessitated by the need to bring on board technocrats who would work with him in policy making, implementation and pushing of county's economic agenda.

The Senator also revealed that plans were underway to appoint billionaire Chris Kirubi as Nairobi County Chief Economic Advisor.

Mr Mbaru is a business mogul and unsuccessfully run for the County's top job against Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu and incumbent Evans Kidero in 2013 Election.

On his part, Kirubi is a popular Kenyan industrialist, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and Director of Centum Investment Company Limited.
