Kiambu Governor William Kabogo was on Wednesday sued by area traders over allegations of double-licensing.
The traders who comprise of hotel and bar owners from Ruiru and Githurai accused the Governor and the County Government of charging them license fees for the same businesses twice.
The traders filed a case at Milimani Law Courts seeking orders nullifying the county's Alcohol Drink and Control (Licensing) Act 2014 which included tough conditions for licensing and sale of alcohol in Kiambu.
The Alcohol Act was crafted after the County experienced the illicit brew menace with most residents suffering from alcohol addiction.
The Act was scheduled to be operational from Sunday, April 30 but is now subject to the court ruling.
The move to sue the Governor and the County comes only a few hours after Kabogo lost in the Jubilee nominations to Kabete Member of Parliament Ferdinand Waititu.
While conceding defeat, he stated that there were some forces within Jubilee Party who were determined to oust him from his seat.
"It has been a long journey in Jubilee and I have done my best. It seems there are some powers that need to keep me away," Kabogo stated.
