2 Killed in Accident at Sirende Area on Kitale-Eldoret Road

2 people were killed and 12 injured in a grisly road accident involving a PSV matatu, lorry and a tuk-tuk at Sirende area on Kitale-Eldoret road.

The accident occurred at Bishop Muge at about 11.30 am on Wednesday and involved a lorry, tuk-tuk and a Kangaroo shuttle on its way from Kitale to Eldoret.

According to Trans Nzoia police commandant Lillian Okembo, the lorry hit the matatu while its driver tried to overtake.

Residents said the matatu veered off the road and rolled several times before landing in a maize plantation.

Those injured were taken to Kitale hospital, two in critical condition.

This comes just under a week after 5 people died and 9 others were injured in Sagana, Murang'a County following an accident between a truck transporting logs and two matatus.

The truck is reported to have veered off the road before landing on the two vehicles which were in motion.
