16 MPs Who Lost in Jubilee Nominations Vow to Campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta

Othaya Member of Parliament (MP) Mary Wambui together with 15 MPs who lost in the Jubilee Party nominations have vowed to traverse the whole country to campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta

Speaking in Nyeri Town during a vote-hunting mission, the group from Central Kenya declared to support the President under the banner of "UhuRuto Express".

They accused members of the Opposition of playing opportunistic politics with the issue of drought in the country.

Kigumo MP Jamleck Kamau argued that the drought in the country was a natural occurrence and had nothing to do with the government.

Kamau added that the Jubilee Government had already dealt with the issue of maize shortage through importation of maize from Mexico

Runyenjes MP Cecily Mbarire accused the National Super Alliance (NASA) of planning to resurrect ICC cases against the President and Deputy President William Ruto, adding that NASA would not succeed in their plans.

Earlier on, the MPs shelved their re-election ambitions after they lost the Jubilee nominations stating that they would instead focus on campaigning for Uhuru ahead of the August 8 polls.

Other MPs present in the Nyeri rally included were Njogu Barua (Gichugu), Maina Mbuku (Maragwa), Mary Mbugua (Nakuru), Samuel Gichigi (Kipipiri), Joseph Kiuna (Molo) and Esther Gathogo (Ruiru).
