3 Reasons Why NASA Leader Raila Odinga Wants New Election in 90 Days

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga has outlined three reasons why he believes a credible presidential poll can only be held in 90 days.

First, the Opposition leader stands by his assertion that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) was ill-prepared for the October 26 repeat poll.

Mr Odinga remains firm that the Kenya Integrated Election Management System (KIEMS) kits were not reconfigured as expected due to the short time allowance the IEBC was given to do so.

"NASA wanted IEBC servers and the KIEMS kits cleaned, but it did not happen. We did not see the reason for participating in an election whose outcome was already predetermined," he stated on Sunday.

Second, the NASA chief interpreted the low voter turn-out as a clear indication that the people of Kenya are fed up with President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.

Mr Odinga dismissed the announcement by IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati that voter turn-out was recorded at 43% claiming that the Chairman's figures had been generated from KIEMS kits that were manipulated to favour President Kenyatta.

"We told people to stay at home and they heeded our call.

"The President and his deputy have lost the mandate to speak on behalf of Kenyans. They only speak for themselves," Mr Odinga told residents of Kawangware, Nairobi.

Mr Odinga additionally stated that a poll conducted in 90 days after November 1 will ensure Kenyans elect a selfless leader. An opportunity he claims has not been accorded to Kenyans in the past two presidential elections.

"They are saying that I am very old and I cannot lead the country, but I want to tell them that one can be young but with a very old mindset.

"NASA has good policies to eradicate poverty and a leader who can deal with tribalism, corruption and unemployment, which the Kenyatta leadership has miserably failed to address," the former Prime Minister declared.
