Shebesh's Husband Shot

Police are currently investigating a gun incident that left the husband to former Nairobi Woman Representative Rachel Shebesh with two gunshot wounds.

Mr Frank Ambundo Shebesh allegedly shot himself in the foot using a Glock 17 pistol at their Kilimani home in Nairobi on Tuesday night.

"Officers from the Kilimani Police Station rushed to the hospital as is the norm, and established that the patient was a civilian gun holder and that he had discharged one round of ammunition injuring himself," a police report read in part.

Mr Ambundo, a licenced firearm holder, insisted that the incident was purely an accident that took place at their home and nothing more.

"We want to establish whether it is possible for one to shoot himself twice, at what angle among other possibilities," a police officer told Capital News.

He was rushed to the Nairobi Hospital where he is admitted receiving treatment for the injuries sustained.

Doctors managed to remove a bullet that was lodged in the victim's foot even as the investigations continue.

On their part, police have maintained that those who were present in the house during the incident should record statements to corroborate the story before the case is dismissed.

The police confiscated the pistol from Mr Ambundo and found that it still had 12 rounds of live ammunition.

Rachel Shebesh had been actively campaigning for President Uhuru Kenyatta ahead of the repeat presidential polls. She led the charge for Jubilee women politicians who had dubbed themselves a Jubilee brigade, complete with combat attire.
