Miguna Miguna is a Conman - Babu Owino

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino launched a scathing attack on self-styled National Resistance Movement (NRM) General Miguna Miguna, describing him as 'a conman'.

Babu claimed that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between President Uhuru Kenyatta and National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga angered Miguna as it effectively ended his public lectures in various cities around the world where he charged entry fees, sold merchandise and charged a fee to take pictures with him.

"Miguna Miguna is a sad man. Uhuru-Raila peace agreement put a drastic stop to his foreign public lectures which was a booming business where he charged entry and fees for those who took pictures with him. This con man must be exposed!" he tweeted on Tuesday.

In a swift rejoinder, Miguna told Babu that Raila himself had also held such events where he charged entry fees.

"Hahaha! Raila also fundraised in foreign countries and people paid entry fees and to take pictures with him. I will start another tour soon. Viva!," he responded.

Babu sensationally claimed that Miguna was on an unnamed person's payroll and maintained that he 'fought for nothing' , telling him to respect Baba (Raila).

"We all know on whose payroll Miguna Miguna rants. Miguna Miguna was never interested in coming back to Kenya in the first place he wanted the drama and limelight," he wrote.

Miguna was initially deported on 6 February when he was bundled into a KLM flight headed to Ontario, Canada.

This came a week after Miguna commissioned Raila Odinga's oath as the People's President at Uhuru Park infront of thousands of jubilant supporters.

Miguna went on to hold events in cities such as Atlanta, Toronto and Berlin as he prepared to return to the country on March 26 as ordered by the High Court which ruled that his deportation was illegal.

He returned to Kenya on March 26, kicking off a dramatic 72-hours at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) before he was deported again.

After he flatly refused to board an Emirates flight which state agents had forced him into, Miguna claimed that he was sedated and 'poisoned' before being put on another flight the next day.

He landed in Dubai before returning to Canada even as the court ordered that he be produced by Interior CS Fred Matiang'i, Police Inspector-General Joseph Boinnet and Immigration Director Gordon Kihalangwa.
