Pope Francis has appointed Norman King'oo as the new Bishop of Machakos.
In changes announced by the Vatican on June 22, King'oo was transferred from the Catholic Diocese of Bungoma where he has served for the past 20 years.
He was also the Chair of the National Family Life Office at the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops.
King'oo was appointed Bishop of Bungoma on 27th June, 1998 and ordained on 16th August, 1998 by the then Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya Cardinal Joseph Tumko.
The position at the Machakos Diocese became vacant when Bishop Martin Kivuva took over as Archbishop of the Mombasa Archdiocese.

Nyeri Archbishop Anthony Muheria has been in charge of the Machakos Diocese since Kivuva's exit.
With the new changes, the Military Ordinate and four dioceses remain without resident Bishops.
Among them are the Catholic Dioceses of Kitui, Mombasa, Eldoret and Malindi.
Pope Francis has promised to implement significant changes and bring in fresh people with new ideas as he seeks to reform certain aspects of the Vatican.
In a recent interview, he revealed that the Office of Papal Charities, otherwise known as the pope's almoner, will henceforth be headed by a cardinal, the highest position in the Church after the pope himself.
