Jacque Maribe's Return to Citizen News Anchor's Job Derailed by Court

The release of Jacque Maribe after being granted bail by Justice James Wakiaga on Tuesday was accompanied by conditions further derailing her possible return to Citizen TV screens.

Justice Wakiaga in his bail ruling stated that the court had been convinced by the prosecution to have limited restrictions on Ms Maribe's freedom.

She was released on a Ksh 2 million bond with a surety of the same amount or alternatively a cash bail of Ksh 1M with three sureties of the same amount.

"Taking to account that the second accused (Ms Maribe) had the misfortune of reading the news in respect of the deceased's death, I am of the view and convinced that some limited restriction is reasonable and justifiable," stated Justice Wakiaga.

He further directed that;

- Ms Maribe shall not make any contact with the prosecution witnesses until the full determination of the case.

- She shall be accompanied by investigating officers to her house for taking inventories of any materials including taking pictures before being allowed any exclusive access to the residence.

- Maribe shall not read news, comment or participate in any interview with parties directly or indirectly involved in the matter.

He also ordered that Maribe shall not read the news during the period the matter is fixed for the hearing.

"The second accused shall not interview any parties directly or indirectly involved in the case including the victim's family, her advocates and the prosecution witnesses and the triumph court," ordered Justice Wakiaga.

The court denied Maribe's co-accused, Joe Irungu bail in Monica Kimani murder case, ruling that he is a flight risk and has access to guns which can intimidate witnesses.
