DCI Probes Governor Okoth Obado Over New Murder Scheme

DCI officers have summoned Jared Kwaga, a former close business associate of Migori Governor Okoth Obado to record a statement about an alleged plot by the county boss to kill him.

Confirming the matter to The Star, DCI George Kinoti stated, "Yes, we are investigating this issue and hope to conclude investigations soon."

According to the newspaper, detectives are in receipt of a letter with details of an alleged scheme by the governor and his associates to eliminate Kwaga.

Jared and Obado, who had engaged in prior business dealings, are reported to have fallen out in 2018.

Sleuths are also expected to question the Migori governor over the issue.

“DCI officers have summoned me to record a statement with them,” Kwaga told The Star.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has also gone to court seeking various orders against Kwaga relating to millions of shillings that he reportedly wired to Obado’s children abroad.

The governor’s beneficial children are named as Dan Ochola Okoth, Jerry Zachary Okoth and Susan Scarlet Okoth.

According to the commision, a communications link analysis indicated that the governor was in constant communication with Kwaga.

In October last year, Obado and his two aides were arrested and charged with the gruesome murder of his lover Sharon Otieno, who was seven months pregnant with his son.
